Challenge

The objective was to seal the production perforations from 7,522-7,452′ for a
preliminary P&A due to Hurrican damage. Job design required jump divers to
establish tubing integrity and tie into casing for diagnostic testing purposes. Prior to
pumping Liquid Bridge Plug®, lines were tested to 1,500 psi. The SCSV was
opened via control lines and a die colored water was pumped down the tubing to
verify no leaks. It was determined that there was a casing leak but the tubing was
intact. At this point it was decided to pump the job as recommended with the
calculated volumes of 12 lb/gal Ultra Spacer® and Liquid Bridge Plug® resin to
permanently plug off the production perforations @ 7,522′. The 4 bbl’s of Ultra
Spacer® was pumped ahead of 10 bbl’s of Liquid Bridge Plug® as a marker for the
placement of the train fluids. The spacer hit the perforations with a pressure
increase and the 40.5 bbl’s of displacement was attained. The well was monitored
over night and no bubbles were visible. The job was a success at considerable cost
savings to the customer.

Results

USING LIQUID BRIDGE PLUG® SAVED THE OPERATOR FROM
HAVING TO MOVE IN A WORK OVER RIG AND FISH TUBING TO
KILL THE WELL WITH CONVENTIONAL MECHANICAL TOOLS
SUCH AS A CIBP OR CEMENT RETAINER.
