Challenge

Newfield, OK

The Operator was going to drill deeper and set a 5 1/2” production string. Due to loss circulation problems they were required to set a short string of 7” intermediate casing.

Red Rock, OK

To form a strong cement bond across a shallow, fresh water aquifer, thereby eliminating the need for the short strong of casing being used to isolate the aquifer.

Main Pass Block 185

To reduce gas migration and casing pressure issues.

Results

Newfield, OK

The cement job started with partial returns. 158 bbls into the displacement, total losses occurred. Partial returns were regained 250 bbls into the displacement and maintained for the rest of the job. Partial returns started just before the last few barrels of spacer entered the annulus.

Red Rock, OK

Ultra Spacer® provided great hole cleaning along with good bonding across the entire interval, including across the fresh water aquifer, and the successful elimination of the short string casing, which resulted in significant savings.

Main Pass Block 185

Ultra Spacer’s® non-invasive seal prevented fluid migration into the formation from the cement slurry. Gas migration issues were also eliminated and zero casing pressure was observed for the first time in this field.
